Top treatments
The San Francisco section features 22 medical spas within San Francisco city limits. Candidates for the original 15 were harvested from Google Maps searches for medical spa, med spa, and aesthetics practices across the city. Day spas, non-medical facial salons, and surgical practices lacking standalone med spa wings were screened out. Practices were prioritized based on total verified review volume and demonstrated clinical treatment menus until 15 met all quality criteria. Seven more were added in October 2026 after further Google Maps searches, each checked against the practice's own website. The 22 practices average a 4.9 rating on Google, with Nob Hill Aesthetics, Mabrie Facial Institute, and Idan Med Spa anchoring the highest review volumes. Placement on this directory is purely editorial; no business paid for consideration.
Union Square serves as the primary downtown medical aesthetic hub with six practices: Mabrie Facial Institute, Serenity Aesthetics, The G Spa, Urban Allure, Eternia Medspa, and Infinite Health Zone Integrative Medicine San Francisco. Civic Center (Saelo) and Union Street (SKIN Medical Spa) have two each, counting a Hayes Valley Medical Esthetics location in each. Northern neighborhoods feature Nob Hill Aesthetics (Lower Nob Hill), Recharge Medical (Nob Hill), Ayurva Medical (Cathedral Hill), Laser Clear Skin MedSpa (North Beach), SkinSpirit (Presidio Heights), and SELFishly Aesthetics (Lower Pacific Heights). Southern and central districts include The Castro (Elinea on 18th & Noe), Mission District (Idan Med Spa), Noe Valley (SkinSpirit Noe Valley), Lower Haight (Lilly Beauty), West of Twin Peaks (Ivy En Rose), and Mission Bay (REJUV Medical).
Fifteen practices maintain Saturday hours, including Serenity Aesthetics, Hayes Valley Medical Esthetics (both locations), Elinea on 18th & Noe, SELFishly Aesthetics, and Saelo. Eight locations also provide Sunday bookings: Idan Med Spa, Lilly Beauty, SkinSpirit Presidio Heights, SkinSpirit Noe Valley, The G Spa, Eternia Medspa, Ivy En Rose Medical Spa, and Laser Clear Skin MedSpa. In addition, five clinics keep evening hours until 7 PM or later: Idan Med Spa, Elinea on 18th & Noe, SkinSpirit Presidio Heights, SkinSpirit Noe Valley, and Laser Clear Skin MedSpa. Always confirm staff availability prior to your appointment.
Under the California Medical Practice Act and California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) guidelines, cosmetic injections are medical treatments requiring a prescription. Before receiving neurotoxin or dermal filler injections, a patient must receive an in-person Good Faith Examination (GFE) conducted by a California-licensed physician (MD/DO), physician assistant (PA), or nurse practitioner (NP). Registered Nurses (RNs) may administer injections under standardized procedures and physician supervision, but cannot evaluate patients or write the prescription independently. Medical assistants, licensed estheticians, and cosmetologists are strictly barred by law from performing injections.
Always verify your injector's credentials through the California Department of Consumer Affairs online licensing portal, BreEZe (breeze.ca.gov). BreEZe allows public lookups for MDs and PAs (regulated by the Medical Board of California), DOs (Osteopathic Medical Board of California), and RNs and NPs (Board of Registered Nursing). The verification confirms license status, renewal dates, and any public administrative or disciplinary actions. Esthetician licenses are issued by the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology and do not authorize injections.
