Medical spas in Des Moines, IA

The Des Moines section includes one medical spa, Capital Health. It was found through Google Maps searches for medical spa, med spa, Botox and aesthetics practices in Des Moines, Iowa (November 2026), and its address was checked against the Census city limits. Its own website was checked for medical aesthetic services and a named clinician or medical oversight, and a reviewed photo of the current location was required. Surgical-only practices, IV-only lounges, day spas, salons, esthetician-only studios and practices outside the city limits were excluded. Capital Health holds a 4.9 Google rating. No practice paid for placement on this register.

Capital Health is the only listing, and Google places it in Waveland Park, on 42nd Street.

Capital Health does not publish Saturday or Sunday hours, and it does not operate until 7 PM or later on any weekday. Confirm current operating hours directly with the clinic prior to visiting.

Iowa's main source is 481 IAC 655.6, a Board of Medicine rule in the Iowa Administrative Code for physicians who serve as medical directors at medical spas. Its list of medical aesthetic services includes injectables, Botox injections and collagen injections. A person licensed or certified by another Iowa health or skin care board, but not as a physician, may perform such a service only if a supervising medical director delegated it. The rule does not name nurses or use the term dermal fillers. It also says nothing in it prevents a qualified nonphysician licensed health professional from serving as a medical director under that professional's own licensing rules. The Board of Nursing rules reviewed for RNs, LPNs and ARNPs do not mention cosmetic injections or medical spas. A Board of Barbering and Cosmetology Arts and Sciences rule says licensed estheticians shall only perform medical aesthetic services in a medical spa under a medical director's delegation and supervision, and that the board does not license medical aestheticians.

At a medical spa covered by the Board of Medicine's rule, the identity, licensure and certification of the medical director, other physicians and all nonphysician staff and laser technicians must be visibly displayed and given in writing to each patient receiving medical aesthetic services. Then use the Iowa Department of Inspections, Appeals, and Licensing's Find a Record or License page, which links lookups for physicians, for physician assistants, and for nurses and nurse practitioners by license number, plus the Nursys website for nurses by name. The page reviewed lists no lookup for estheticians, cosmetologists or laser technicians. It says records that cannot be accessed online through its links can be requested on the State Open Records Request Portal. Ask your provider for their full name and license type before treatment.
